April Monthly Scripture Memorization Challenge:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
Weekly Devotional (March 30-April 5)
We have heard so much lately about COVID-19 and the impacts to your health if you contract the disease. I have found that there is another impact that I do not believe has been discussed enough, and it is to those that have not contracted the disease…a bad attitude. This is something that has been impacting me over the last few days.
Everything that is going on around me is causing my attitude to sink to levels that I am sure would surprise all of you. I am completely and totally on edge at all times. I have snapped at my wife, my kids, a worker at Walmart, and all because I am letting the change to my life and my routine get to me. I am allowing the things that my boss says to me fester to the point of wanting to quit my job on the spot. I allowing being cooped up with my family 24-hours a day to say to myself that I don’t have time for myself. I am allowing the worker at Walmart that was trying to be overly friendly make feel that I am being spoken to in a condescending manner. I am allowing Satan to win.
God does not want us to allow Satan to win. God wants us to follow what it says in 1 Peter 3:8 “Finally, all of you, be like-minded and sympathetic, love as brothers, be tender-hearted and humble.” He wants us to have ‘the same mindset as Christ’ as it states in Philippians 2:5.
We cannot allow ourselves to fall into the trap that Satan is laying for us. Instead, we need listen and learn from our boss, we need to smile and thank the worker for being there when so many others get to work from home, and we need to cherish this time that we get to spend with our loved ones, because before we know it our kids will be out of the house and we won’t get to see them on a daily basis.
Take this time to work on your mindset and attitude. Are you in a mindset like Christ or have you been allowing your mindset and attitude to impacted in a way that is not talked about with the COVID-19 symptoms? We are here as a brotherhood to help each other. Don’t be proud. Reach out to one another. I love all you, my Brothers!
